Walkthrough of Skyrim - Imperial Army. Imperial Legion - Civil War Walkthrough of Skyrim for the Empire rewards

There is a low-intensity war going on in Skyrim. The Legion of the Empire wants to increase its influence and force the Nords to respect the laws of the empire, which is often Skyrim, while the Stormcloaks fight for the independence of their lands.

Important: there is no clear good or bad side. Each has both good things and its own “skeletons in the closet”.

How to join the imperial army?

Go to Solitude and find the "Gloomy Castle" building there (which doesn't look like a castle at all), and talk to Legate Rikke there, she will give you the introductory task.

Joining the Legion

Gives: Legate Rikke
The essence of the task: to clear the Ford from bandits.

The task is simple: come to the Ford marked on the map and kill all the bandits there. After which we return to Rikka and say the oath. All that remains is to go to the blacksmith and get imperial armor. Welcome to the Imperial Legion.

Serrated crown

Gives: Legate Rikke
The essence of the task: You need to find the legendary Jagged Crown

Rikke asked us to help her find the Jagged Crown. Our path lies in the ancient burial place of the Nords called Corvanyud:

Arriving at to the right place, we learn that the Storm Brothers are already inside and we will have to fight our way through. Having reached the passage, killing all the Stormcloaks along the way, we will be asked to find a workaround, because... Rikke is sure that there is a trap ahead of us. The bypass is located directly above us, you can get to it using the stairs.

Note: By taking the bypass route, you can drop a jug on enemies, which will ignite the oil under the Stormcloaks' feet, hastening their death. This can be done with an arrow or a spell.

Having killed all the enemies, we go to the next burial level. And almost at the very beginning of the level we will encounter a door, to open which we need a claw; it lies next to the door. Answer to the puzzle:

Next we come to a room with bars. And we are again asked to find a way to open it. You need to climb the stairs and cross to the other side on the platforms. There will be a handle that you need to pull. Once the grate opens, four Draugr will emerge from the coffins.

Note: After climbing the stairs, find the dagger that is lying on the tile, pick up the dagger and a secret passage will open. When going to the chest, be careful; interacting with it will activate a trap.

Note: At the end of the corridor there is a wall with a word of power.

Message for Whiterun

Gives: General Thulius
The essence of the task: You need to take a letter from Thulium to the Earl of Whiterun, and then give the ax to Ulfric.

After we have brought the Jagged Crown, we will be sent to take a message to the Jarl of Whiterun.

Note: If you have not completed the main quest yet, you will first have to go to the dungeon and/or kill the dragon.

The Jarl of Whiterun asks us to take the ax to Ulfric (which means war). Having brought the ax, we learn that Ulfric is going to storm Whiterun, we need to warn the jarl. When we arrive, we find out that the battle has already begun.

Battle of Whiterun

Quentius Scipius sends us to the front line under the command of Legate Rikke. When we approach Rikka, she will give an inspiring speech and send us off to fight. The goal is simply to kill the Stormcloaks. Their number is measured as a percentage, with each rebel corpse this number drops, you need to bring it to zero. Also, an additional task will be to hold positions: first we must defend the barricades, preventing the enemy from breaking through them. If the protective fences are destroyed, the squad will retreat a little, and the goal will be to hold the drawbridge. It is not necessary to do this; the main task is to kill opponents.

Note: If you have a companion, he will remain in the city and will not go into battle with you.

Having killed all opponents, we can go to the city gates and listen to the earl’s speech, or we can immediately go to Tulius. Returning to Tullius, we will receive a good blade and a new title Questor.

Unification of Skyrim

Gives: General Tullius
The essence of the task: Clear the forts and carry out Rikka's orders.

This task combines several others, the common goal of which is the complete reconquest of Skyrim. This quest is related to the main story quest " Endless time", during which it is necessary to conduct peace negotiations between the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion. Depending on the decision you make, the factions will exchange cities and, accordingly, take control of a new possession. If you have already completed this task, then you need to capture the Reach, and if not, the Rift.

Regain control of White Beach

Gives: General Tullius

Note: If Dawnstar was handed over to the Imperials during the quest "Time Without End", this quest will be skipped.

Thulius will send us to a camp on the White Coast with the Imperials. We are again under the command of Legate Rikke. She wants us to feed misinformation to the Stormcloaks, but to do this we must first find the original. Rebels who have documents most often stay in two taverns, one located in Windhelm, and the other outside the cities. The second option is the best. We go to the tavern and convince the owner to help us.

Note: Most easy way persuade the innkeeper to say that the rebels are in danger.

Having learned from the tavern owner the route of the messenger, we can easily track him. All that remains is to pick up the package. Having collected the package, we return to the legate. The order states that Fort Dunstad needs help. The legate will falsify the document, thereby depriving the fort of support and misinforming the Dawnstar commander. Our goal is to take the fake documents to the rebel commander in Dawnstar. Frokmar the Torn Banner will easily believe that we had to change clothes so that the “enemies” would not notice us and will accept the forged orders, thanking us for the delivery. And we should go back to Rikka. She will praise us and give us gold.

Legate Rikke will send us to help a detachment of legionnaires capture Fort Dunstad, which thanks to us was left without the support of the rebel forces. When approaching, the squad will rush forward, beginning an assault on the enemy fort.

Note: It is not necessary to go straight to the marked marker. You can simply approach the fort, then the battle will begin and the legionnaires will appear.

When the battle is over, we must return to Solitude to General Tullius, who will report that capturing the White Coast will give a huge advantage to the Imperial Legion. As a reward for completing the task, the general will give you the title of Prefect and reward you with a random weapon or armor (depending on the character level).

Note: There is a small bug - General Tullius will say that he is promoting us in rank and giving us a blade as a reward. But he himself can give away not a blade at all, but a shield, for example.

Take back control of the Rift

Gives: General Tullius
The essence of the task: Follow Rikka's orders.

Note: If Riften was handed over to the Imperials during the quest "Time Without End", this quest will be skipped.

The next possession that must be returned to the rule of the Empire Rift. The general again sends us under the command of Rikke. Upon arrival, we will be instructed to go to Riften and try to find out how much the ruler of Jarl Anuriel is susceptible to blackmail. Rikka knows that the manager is quite closely connected with the Thieves Guild, and the legion can take advantage of this by threatening the manager with the declassification of not very honest affairs. This is what we will do. We need to take the letter from Anuriel's chest of drawers and then show it to her. This will make her think and she will want to talk to us alone. Anuriel will tell us that a strategically important caravan of rebels with gold and weapons has set off towards Windhelm, and it can turn the tide of the war.

Note: If you have a high Speech skill, you can beg her for gold.

We return to the legate and tell her what we learned. Rikke will send you to find a small group of legionnaires, led by our old friend Hadvar, who have been sent to scout the exact region where the rebel caravan is supposed to pass. Having joined the legionnaires, we must rob the caravan. Having removed the Storm Brothers, we can return to Rikka and get some more gold.

Note: Don't forget to empty the chest that is in the cart.

Upon returning to the imperial camp, the legate will instruct you next task together with a detachment of legionnaires, capture Fort Greenwall, which, due to the capture of the caravan, was left without support and weapons. Having reached the waiting legionnaires, we will move to attack the unsuspecting Stormcloak soldiers. The already familiar principle of capturing a fort awaits us - clearing out enemies.

Regain control of Winterhold

Gives: General Tullius
The essence of the task: Follow Rikka's orders.

Arriving at Rikka, we learn that a detachment of imperials is being held captive by the rebels in Fort Kastav. Our goal is to sneak into the fort, free the prisoners and capture the fort. But first you need to talk to Hadvar, he will tell you about the location of a secret hatch that leads directly to the fort.

Note: If you are spotted, you will have to fight immediately and the sneak infiltration will fail.

Having made our way into the fort, we must free our brothers in arms; this can be done simply by picking up the key on the table or from the Stormcloaks, or opening the locks ourselves. Now that the prisoners have been freed, we can begin to capture the fort.

We will need to kill all the rebels, and when we exit into the courtyard, Hadvar will also join us. After we kill all the enemies, Hadvar will express his gratitude to us.

Note: The prisoners are not required to survive. Sometimes Hadvar and his squad come to the rescue slowly or do not appear at all, this is a bug.

Now we can return to Tullius and receive a new rank Legate, and a reward in the form of weapons or armor.

Take back control of Eastmarch

Gives: General Tullius
The essence of the task: Follow Rikka's orders.

We are again under the command of Legate Rikke, although this is a little strange - after all, we are of the same rank as her, but not the essence. Our task is to clear Fort Amol. Standard battle, nothing complicated.

Then we return to the legate, she sends us to Tullius, the final battle awaits us. We go straight to the gates of the city of Windhelm.

Battle of Windhelm

Gives: Legate Rikke
The essence of the task: Capture Windhel and overthrow Ulfric.

When we arrive, we will hear a speech from Tullius and learn that he himself is leading the assault. Together with a detachment of legionnaires we enter the city through the main gate. We'll be right in the middle of the battle, but this time we'll leave the bulk of the fighting to the soldiers. Our task is to, together with General Tullius and Legate Rikke, make our way to the Royal Palace and find Ulfric Stormcloak there. The main path is blocked, you will have to take a detour. We need to turn left from the gates of the fortress and go out to the trading area, turning right from the forge and passing between the houses, we will go out to city cemetery. Next, we must climb the steps to the right, passing the Hall of the Dead, and breaking the next barricade, go to the estate area. Turn right again, and, having passed through the alley, climb the stairs to the left, there will only be one barricade left, then the fortress. Entering the fortress we will see Petrel and Galmar.

Tullius will order Ulfric to surrender, but the rebel leader will refuse this offer and attack. We need to kill Galmar and wound Ulfric. Before his death, the rebel leader will announce his last wish: he will ask to be executed by Dovahkiin. We will be given the choice of killing Ulfric Stormcloak, or giving this opportunity to General Tullius. In any case, the rebel leader will be killed, and the general will thank us for our service and leave his sword. All that remains is to listen to Tullius’s speech.

And of course you will want to join him. Now that the game has been released on Switch and PlayStation VR, it’s time to remember how you can join a particular faction.

The Imperial Legion is one of the military forces in Skyrim, led by General Tullius. Some have decided to play separatists in Skyrim, and the Imperial Legion is strongly opposed to this. If you do too, welcome to join their ranks.

The first thing that may happen to you is that a friendly character may simply ask you to join the Imperial Legion, but it is very easy to miss this situation in the game and refuse to join this faction. Now we will tell you how to find the right people and join the legion if you missed the chance at the beginning of the game.

How to join the Imperial Legion

  • To join the legion, you should go to their fort, Castle Grim. It is located in Solitude - big city in the northwest of Skyrim. This is the main headquarters of the Imperial Legion. You will immediately recognize the castle you need by the imperial soldiers guarding it.
  • When you arrive at the castle, you will have to find General Tullius, commander of the Imperial Legion. Talk to him.
  • Tullius will send you to Legate Rikka, and after talking with the latter, a new task with the appropriate name “Join the Imperial Legion” will appear in your diary. How do you like it?
  • All that is required of you is to complete the task received. It is quite simple - you need to proceed to Fort Hragstad and free it from a gang of bandits.
  • Once the fort is cleared and all the bandits are dead, return to Rikka. He will praise you and ask you to swear an oath to the legion. After this, you will be sent to the blacksmith and he will reward you with a set of imperial armor.
  • That's it, you're accepted! You have access to the main quests of the Imperial Legion branch. Remember that your faction is in open conflict with the Stormcloaks, so by joining the ranks of one, you will block the way to others. However, all achievements associated with these factions can be obtained by playing as any of them. At a certain point in the game, both sides will search for the Jagged Crown in the quest of the same name. At this point you can switch sides and, if you wish, take the crown and give it to your chosen faction. But this choice will definitely be final.

By joining the Imperial Legion faction, you can become. Serving the Empire provides practically no other advantages, but if you have always dreamed of putting on imperial armor, then you have a direct path to the legion.

Tactics in the Imperial Legion are in charge of Legate Rikke, a middle-aged northerner.

The Imperial Legion is an expeditionary army fighting rebels for the good of Tamriel, which is now under the rule of the Thalmor elves. The credo of the legion is law and order, and General Tullius, not without reason, believes that a separated Skyrim will not benefit either the Empire or itself.

Missions for the legion largely repeat the tasks of the Stormcloaks - only in a “mirror” form. However, there are differences in the plot. We'll briefly describe the "duplicate" jobs and tell you more about the discrepancies.

Joining the Imperial Legion

The leader of the Hragstad bandits is so enthusiastically admiring the map that he has forgotten about everything in the world.

You can receive the task to join the ranks of the legionnaires at the very beginning, if you select the legionnaire Hadvar when escaping from Helgen. At the exit from the cave, he will invite the hero to go to General Tullius and enroll in the army. If you did not receive this quest or chose the rebel Ralof when fleeing, just go up to any legionnaire you meet (they often roam the roads accompanying prisoners) and take it.

General Tullius lives in the Dark Castle in Solitude. When you enter the legion headquarters, the general will argue with Legate Rikke. Since communication with Tullius under Helgen was, frankly speaking, short, he will immediately send us to the legate, and she will offer test task. We need to clear the Hragstad fortress from bandits so that the legion can establish an outpost there.

This task is much more difficult than the Stormcloak entrance test. There was only one monster, albeit a strong one, but here there was a whole fort with a dozen bandits. Some roam outside, some in the courtyard, some on the castle walls, one on the tower, and the rest in the main and prison rooms of the fortress. There are no special puzzles here. All enemies are indicated by arrows on the compass, so you won’t be in danger of missing the “last sectoid”.

Return to the Gloomy Castle, listen to the conversation about the Jagged Crown - Legate Rikke persuades the general to send troops (including the “auxiliary”, that is, us) to capture the crown. After the conversation, Rikke will rejoice at our successes and send us to Tullius to take the oath. Taking a solemn oath will mean failing the quest to join the Stormcloaks, if you have one.

Serrated crown

“And here is your Panama hat!” - Legate Rikke hits the next Storm Brother with his shield. A real Valkyrie!

This quest mirrors what the Stormcloaks give you if you choose the rebel path. In the ancient cairn of Korvanjund, the Jagged Crown was found - an important symbol of the supreme power of Skyrim, and now the first to enter the dungeon were no longer legionnaires, but rebels. General Tullius does not understand why the crown is needed, but Legate Rikke convinced him that it was impossible to give such a valuable thing to Ulfric.

Before you go to Korvanjund, take a legionnaire’s set from the blacksmith Beirand - light armor, heavy or medium (it’s also light, but with a heavy shield).

The place we need on the map is north of Whiterun and east of the Lorey farm. A group of legionnaires stands in a small forest near the cairn and listens to Rikke’s instructions. After the conversation, the whole gang will move to the burial ground, where the Storm Brothers will meet us.

You don't have to fight at all - Legate Rikke is indestructible, and the accompanying fighters are reborn. But there is nothing wrong with helping your own people. Several soldiers are on duty outside, the rest are hiding inside and are not waiting for us yet. When Rikke announces an ambush, go up one level and bring down burning lamps on the rebels standing with their feet in the oil.

U secret door pick up the ebony claw and use the wolf-butterfly-dragon combo. In the hall with the coffins, go up to the upper level and, by turning the lever, help Rikka and the legionnaires get rid of the draugr. After this, all that remains is to remove the crown from the draugr, who is sitting on the throne in a relaxed position. To do this, you need to kill him and a couple of his assistants from the sarcophagi on the sides.

Take the crown, the word of Power - and return to Tullius. You can also give the crown to Ulfric - then you will go over to his side. This is the last opportunity to change faction.

Message for Whiterun

There is a military council in Dragonsreach, and meanwhile the Stormcloaks are already approaching the walls of the city.

This task is also “mirror”, but this time it is not Ulfric who asks us to take the ax to the Earl of Whiterun, but on the contrary - the Earl of Whiterun asks us to take his ax to Ulfric (and gets just as irritated if we ask: “Why the ax?”). True, first, on the instructions of Tullius, you need to come with a message from the legion to the Dragon's Reach and listen to how the jarl consults with his entourage.

NOTE: The quest will not be completed until the plot task “Dragon in the Sky” is completed - the jarl will simply refuse to accept the message.

Then we run with the ax to Ulfric, and after that the differences begin: we do not take Whiterun, but defend it. The council of war in the room above the throne room is held in the company of the imperial legate. He accepts the task “Message for Whiterun” from us and gives the following - “Battle of Whiterun”.

Battle of Whiterun

Hadvar can easily see the speck in his neighbor's eye, but in his own he doesn't even notice the arrow.

Flames pour down from the sky onto Whiterun - the city is being bombarded by catapults. Legate Rikke is waiting outside the gate. When she sees us, she will make a speech to a handful of warriors who are about to fight another handful of warriors.

The battle of Whiterun follows the usual template, which was already described in the walkthrough for the Stormcloaks: there are weak fighters on both sides, they are reborn, and dead enemies are noted on the percentage counter. When it reaches zero, we win. The only difference is that here we have a couple of side objectives: protecting the barricades at the gate and protecting the drawbridge if the barricades fall.

Keeping even a bridge or a gate intact is a difficult task, since there are many enemies and they can demolish the flimsy “goats” in a couple of blows or shots. You can break through to the stables where the Stormcloaks are reborn and try to distract them. Or you can take advantage of a bug.

One way or another, you do not have to complete side quests, or even participate in the battle. When it's over, check in with the jarl (he will come out of the gate to make a speech) and return to Tullius, who will give us the title of quaestor.

NOTE: the remaining quests are collected under the name "Unification of Skyrim".

Disinformation

“Is the Storm Brotherhood fleeing?” - “Everyone is running!”

Our new mission is to regain control of the White Beach. In the White Bank camp, the hero will be met by Rikke and given another “mirror” task. Like the Stormcloaks, you need to track down and kill the courier. To do this, check out the Night Gate tavern or the Windhelm establishment Hearth and Candle. The bartender will tell you where to look for the courier - for money, for threats or persuasion. After this, an arrow will appear on the map indicating our goal. Kill the courier, take the documents and deliver to Rikka.

The second part of the task is to take the documents to Dawnstar, a commander named Frokmar Torn Banner. After a normal conversation (“why not in the form?” - “so that the enemy doesn’t guess!”), the task will be completed. Return to Legate Rikka.

Battle of Dunstad Fort

The most peaceful place in Dunstad is the Awkward Sabertooth Tavern. Above the fireplace is the saber tooth itself.

To finally recapture the region from the Stormcloaks, you need to storm Fort Dunstad. This is not a quest, but a battle - the enemies here are weak, constantly reborn, and the percentage counter shows how much more hacking and stabbing is left before victory.

After the battle, Tullius will promote the hero to prefect and send him to the Rift.

War booty

The target is a sentry. A volley of two arrows should take him down.

Rikke will give out another “mirror” task - with blackmail. Our goal is Anuriel, the ruler of the Jarl of Riften. She is doing business with the Thieves Guild, and the incriminating note will be found in the chest of drawers in her office. Wave a note in front of Anuriel's face, and she will lead you into the office and tell you about the cart with valuable cargo. The carriage travels from Riften to Windhelm - it travels slowly and is poorly guarded. The information is very useful.

Return to Rikka and she will send you to meet the scouts located north of Riften, at Shor's watchtower. The scouts are led by Hadvar. As in a similar task of the Storm Brothers, the cart broke down, and we have two options: attack the guards ourselves or with the help of scouts (they will help with fire). The scouts can be persuaded to wait until nightfall, but there is no point in doing so.

The sentry wanders along a high rock - if you accept the help of Hadvar's group, they will “take down” him with their bows.

The cart is guarded by several Stormcloak fighters. If you don’t want to fight, you can run in circles from them until the immortal Hadvar finishes off the last one. Don't forget to empty the chest on the cart. Talk to Hadvar and return to the legate.

NOTE: if you completed the story quest “Endless Time” and Riften went to the Empire, you will not be given this quest at all.

Battle of Fort Greenwall

Fort Greenwall is powerful walls and a small courtyard.

The Battle of Fort Greenwall is another typical battle. The fort is located north of Riften. When ours win and the enemy counter is reset, return to Tullius. He will say that the legion is already on Ulfric’s doorstep, and the decisive battle is coming soon. And we are going to Winterhold, to a secret camp.

Fort Kastav - saving comrades

They shined torches everywhere, searched everywhere, but no weapons were found.

The legate will give a new situation: captured legionnaires are languishing in Fort Kastav. Hadvar's sabotage group has taken refuge in the hills below the fort, and she will be happy to send us forward to save the legionnaires.

Unlike the “mirror” task for the Stormcloaks, here you won’t have to look for the secret entrance for long. The hatch is right under the wall. There are several sentries inside the fortress. You can steal the key from them, but this will not bring much benefit, so it is better to free the prisoners by removing the keys from their bodies. The prisoners will return the armor, but weapons are tight, so they will have to help in battle - they won’t fight much with their fists.

Find Hadvar in or near the fortress, give him a report and return to Tullius, who will promote the hero to legate and give him heavy Daedric armor.

Battle of Amol Fort

Quite unexpectedly, Fort Amol, along with legionnaires, was attacked by an ancient dragon. They finished him off only in the morning.

Our next stop is a camp in Eastmarch, from where the hero will be sent to battle for Fort Amol. This is a classic “percentage” battle - the last one in the plot. After him, Legate Rikke will immediately send him to Windhelm, where the final act of the drama about the struggle between the “reds” and the “blues” is about to take place.

Battle of Windhelm

"We meet again, my old enemy!"

Fire charges from Ulfric's catapults are flying from the city, but General Tullius and his soldiers are already standing in the “dead zone” at the very gates. After a short speech, the group will enter the city.

The main task is not to destroy the enemies, but to go through the entire city and get to the royal palace as quickly as possible, where the Earl of Windhelm is holed up. The main passage to the palace is blocked with barricades (this time - real ones, which cannot be penetrated by either a sword or an arrow), so we will have to immediately turn left, go down to the cemetery, go through the narrow streets under figurines of ravens, turn right under the high walls and thus ending up at the entrance to the palace. Enemies will respawn on our way, so if you are not confident in your abilities, stick to the main group of legionnaires.

There is no need to do anything inside anymore. If you want, help Tullius and Rikka deal with Ulfric and his faithful dog Galmar. The final choice is to deliver the final blow to the defeated jarl or to give the honor to the general.

In any case, the war has been won, and all we have left is to destroy individual groups of Stormcloaks hiding in the hills if we wish!

Imperial Legion

Guard protecting the province of Skyrim. The head is General Tullius. Oppose the Stormcloaks.

The most disciplined and effective military force in history, the Imperial Legions serve as guarantors of peace and law in the Empire. If necessary, legion garrisons can be quickly mobilized and used to defend against external invasion or internal unrest, with the exception of the District of Vvardenfell in Morrowind. The Legion selects candidates based on criteria such as endurance, soldierly valor, personal trustworthiness, and civic courage, for service in the Legion is an example of the fulfillment of Imperial civic duty. Soldiers are expected to demonstrate proficiency with longswords, spears, and blunt weapons. Legion soldiers train with shields and heavy armor and must be able to parry blows as well as move around in heavy armor.

Introduction

Joining the Imperial Legion

There are two ways to get the initial quest "Joining the Imperial Army."

1. When escaping from a camp engulfed in fire, you must choose Hadvar as an ally. Then you will have to fight the Storm Brothers, and after the young Dovahkiin gets out of the camp where they wanted to execute him, Hadvar will give this quest

2. Enter the Imperial Camp and talk to the soldier. You will be invited to join the Army and sent to Solitude. This will be a quest "Joining the Imperial Army". Once you complete the quest, you will become an Imperial Guardsman.

Quests

The quest chain is quite long. It begins with taking the oath in Solitude, and ends with the capture of Windhelm.

camps

Initially, there were 4 imperial camps located in Skyrim. In them you can find quartermasters with whom you can trade.

  • Rift. Commander - Legate Feisendil
  • Eastmark. Commander: Legate Hrollod
  • Winterhold. Commander - Legate Sevan Telendas
  • White Beach. Commander: Legate Constantine Titulus

Later, as you cut out camps of bandits, necromancers and Stormcloaks, you will notice that Legion soldiers are taking their place.

When a possession is captured, the Imperial camp is collapsed, and the warriors and authorities move to the corresponding city.

General information

The Imperials are perhaps the most advanced race of people, sometimes also called Cyrodiils. Natives of Cyrodiil are persuasive in their speeches, they are charismatic, and therefore make excellent traders and diplomats. They are not as strong as the Nords and Redguards, not versed in the magical arts like the Altmer and Bretons, they are not as agile and fast as the Bosmer and Khajiit, but they were the ones who were able to conquer all the provinces of Tamriel. Thanks to military discipline and the excellent training of their soldiers, the wise emperors of Cyrodiil were able to bring prosperity to the Empire and many provinces.

Emergence

Nedic peoples settled throughout Tamriel at the end of the Elven Era. Some of them settled in present-day Skyrim and now we know them as Nords, others settled in the lands of High Rock and Hammerfell, where, creating alliances with the elves, they changed and became the current Bretons. Other Neds eventually reached the central part of the continent, which at that time was under the control of the Ayleid race. Unlike the Direnia clan, the Ayleids did not consider it necessary to share the land with people, and the ancestors of the current Imperials were enslaved by the Wild Elves for centuries, enduring their incredible atrocities. The turning point in the history of the people of Cyrodiil was the birth of Alessia. She led a rebellion, overthrew the elven rulers, and took over the White-Gold Tower as Queen of Cyrodiil. This is how the first Cyrodilic Empire appeared, the people were called Imperials. The descendants of the slaves, ironically, began to rule the vast Tamriel Empire, conquering all other nations.

Culture and religion

After seizing power, Alessia needed to solve both the problem of Aedra worship in a way that would not offend either elves or humans. Alessia created a new pantheon, which reflected the religions of Men and Elves. Years passed and many races of Tamriel gained faith in new gods. Even in Morrowind, where the Tribunal's propaganda reached unimaginable heights, some Dunmer accepted the Empire's belief in the pantheon of the Eight. After the death of the founder of the Septim Empire, the pantheon became known as "Eight and One", Talos became the new god, the god of men, who was accepted into the pantheon by the people and others of the Aedra for his deeds in life. This event was extremely displeasing to the Altmer of Summerset. But in the empire, the Cult of Talos flourished, in the arboretum of the Imperial City, Talos stands in the center of the pantheon, and in Skyrim the Nords erected a dozen monuments to Talos with its sanctuaries and associated many customs with the worship of Talos.

The culture of the Empire was undoubtedly influenced by elven culture, the main attraction of Tamriel - the White Gold Tower belongs to the elves and it is the center around which the city arose. It is unknown who wrote the Ogma Infinium - a book of knowledge that Hermaeus Mora awards to those worthy, but in this book there is a drawing that very accurately repeats the diagram of the Imperial City. The empire has the largest library and main center The Guild of Mages, the founder of which was also an Elf. In addition, the religion and language of the Imperials themselves took much from the Elven Culture.
However, the Imperials were not only influenced by the elves. The Akaviri rulers brought many changes to the culture of Cyrodiil. The dragon guard spread their houses and temples throughout the Empire. The Empire's army owes its weapons and training to the Akaviri Potentates. The main symbol of the empire, the image of Akatosh, was taken from the Akaviri. Despite the fact that the reign of the Potentates has long passed, echoes of their culture are still present in the lands of the Empire.

brief history

In 1E 242, Alessia took advantage of the civil war among the Ayleids and rebelled against elven rule. The rebellion received support from Skyrim and many rebel Ayleid lords. Cyrodiilians believe that the Ayleids used hordes of Daedra against the rebels. In order to protect people from the tyranny of the Daedric princes who send armies of lower Daedra to help the Ayleids, an agreement was concluded between Alessia and Akatosh. According to the agreement, as long as Alessia's clan honors Akatosh, he will keep the gates of Oblivion closed. Akatosh gave Alessia and her descendants the Amulet of Kings and lit the Dragon Fires in the Imperial City. The ancient ancestors of the Cyrodiils defeated their masters, and Alessia, who was later named the Slave Queen, took over the White-Gold Tower. The former masters of people, the Ayleids, faded into the background over time, and their tribes were lost among the vastness of Cyrodiil.

During this period, Cyrodiil was a rather small, fragmented and weak state. Parts of the Nibenay Valley were controlled by Skyrim, and many outlying areas of Cyrodiil were ruled by Ayleid lords who supported the rebellion. Thousands of years passed before Cyrodiil found real strength.

Gods from the pantheon of former slaves of the White-Gold Tower and from the pantheon of the northerners were chosen as official deities. In other words, there was a chaotic jumble of elven and human elements of culture and religion in Cyrodiil. The Religion of the Eight Divines, founded by Alessia, managed not only to survive all the persecutions and turmoil, but also to become one of the dominant cults in Tamriel.

Many people left the Nibenay Valley in order to seize the border areas in the west. They did not want to earn their living through hard work, and they put robbery and robbery at the top of their list of activities. These people captured the port cities of the Neds and were engaged in pirate trade until about 810 1E. These lands were called the Colovian West and, apparently, were dependent on their eastern neighbors.

After Alessia's death in 1E 266, the Council of Elders elected a second Emperor of Cyrodiil, Belharza (the Bull Man).

In 1E 358, the combined army of Emperor Cyrodiil and the Norse Empire attacked the Direnni clan in the Western Reach. Judging by the fact that the Direnni, some time later, massacred all the northern settlers in this area, the attack was successful, and the Western Reach temporarily came under the control of Skyrim.

In 361 1E, the Prophet Marukh saw the spirit of the Slave Queen in his knowledge. Alessia called for the suppression of elven rule throughout Tamriel and the elimination of elven deities from the pantheon of the cult of the Eight Divines. Marukh became the founder of the Alessian Order and the Alessian Doctrine. The fundamental idea was the belief in some abstract single god, but the spiritual leaders, the heads of the Order, actively included many polytheistic beliefs in their doctrine in order to expand the audience. The worship of gods from the pantheon of the Eight Divines was eradicated, people were ordered to worship ancient spirits and animal gods. People had accumulated so much hatred for the Ayleids that the Alessian Order gained widespread support among the population and seized power in Cyrodiil.

The time that followed the introduction of the Alessian Doctrines was quite uncomfortable for the population - it was not rationality that was valued in the first place, but the desire to be as different as possible from the elves. Most traditional entertainments and pleasures were banned, people everywhere destroyed elven books and bans were introduced against eating the meat of certain animals. The latter circumstance led to the decline agriculture, so the eastern Cyrodiils had to engage in trade. Over time, the development of trade led to the fact that the Nibenay Valley became the richest city-state in the region. The new religion turned out to be quite viable and managed to unite people around one idea.

The population of western Cyrodiil initially did not want the introduction of a new religion. Thus, Westerners continued to worship the pantheon of the Eight Deities, and relations with the East, where the Doctrines were revered, were hopelessly damaged. As a result, Western Cyrodiil completely fenced itself off from the Nibenay Valley and created on its territory independent state- Colovia.

The Alessian Doctrine from Eastern Cyrodiil spread throughout the lands of the northerners, who were also famous for their hostility towards the elves. In 1E 369, the Wild Hunt, a group of mutated Bosmer, killed the king of the North, Borgas, for the injustices done to the elves by the Alessian faith. The War of Succession that broke out in Skyrim after this event weakened the Northern Empire, and it disintegrated. This allowed Gorieus, the Alessian Emperor, to attack Skyrim in 1E 477. At the Battle of Sungard, the High Leader of Skyrim was killed, and the Alessians captured the lands of southern Skyrim.

In 478 1E Dorald, one of the younger princes in royal family Skingrad, inherited the throne of this kingdom. Since Dorald was a priest in the Imperial City and an ardent supporter of the Alessian Cult, with his first decree he transferred Skingrad to the Alessian Empire. Since Skingrad was a native Colovian kingdom, its new king's decision was met with fierce resistance. Dorald was beheaded by his younger brother Rislav, to whom the throne of the kingdom passed. Gorieus, the Alessian Emperor, sent troops to quell the rebellion, but his army was defeated. The Alessian Empire weakened and was attacked by the Direnni clan. The kings of Colovia entered into an alliance to resist the Alessian advance. Skyrim also joined the resistance.

In 1E 482, the troops of the elven clan Direnni, united with the troops of the last of the Ayleid kings, defeated the Alessian army at the Glenumbrian Heathers. At the same time, King Wulfhart came to power in Skyrim, who restored the traditional pantheon of the northerners, having previously destroyed the Temples of Alessia and executed the priests of the Alessian Cult.

It should be noted that there is serious confusion with dates here. According to the Encyclopedia of Tamrielica, the Alessian Order existed for 1008 years, and from the data of the Imperial Guide to the Empire, it can be stated that at least 1839 years of rule of the Alessian Order. The research of the scientist Fal Drun tries to explain the discrepancies by the fact that the period of existence of the Order actually lasted about one hundred and fifty years, because the length of the year at that time was different each time and depended on the duration of the visions High Priestess. Unfortunately, the Alessian Order could not exist for one hundred and fifty years either, because it is known that the Colovians, defending themselves from the Alessian Empire, covered Hammerfell as a shield, and the first Redguards appeared in Hammerfell in the 808th year of 3E. The most popular explanation for this confusion is still the Dragon's Rush, an event that occurred in the First Era and disrupted the normal flow of time throughout Tamriel.

In 1E 2200, the Thrassian Plague began to decimate the inhabitants of western Tamriel. Bendu Olo, king of the Colovian city of Anvil, led a huge allied fleet designed to take revenge on the Sload beastmen. The so-called All Flags Fleet reached the Thras Archipelago and destroyed every member of the Sload race that it could find. Colovia became famous throughout the world and began to overshadow the richer and more famous East. Ultimately, this led to the Justice War. The war was lost by the Nibenese Vale, and, around 1E 2321, the collapse of the Alessian Order came. The doctrines of Alessia were forgotten, but the Nibenay Valley was famous for its strange customs and cults for a long time. Modern Cyrodiilians profess faith in the Nine Divines and have long ceased to call Marukh the Holy Prophet. Much more often before the word “prophet” the epithet “monkey” or “buffoon” is found.

For nearly four hundred years after the fall of the Alessian Order, Cyrodiil was fragmented into small kingdoms and cities. The unification began in 1E 2703, during the invasion of Tamriel by the Akaviri army. Reman, a native of the Colovian West, led the fight against the Tsaesci, and united all of Cyrodiil under the banner of a war of liberation. When Reman took the throne, he introduced a special ceremony for the coronation of Emperors involving the Amulet of Kings. It seems that since then, the coronation of each new Emperor was considered completed only after he re-ignited the Dragon Fires with the help of the Amulet of Kings.

After stubborn fighting on the territory of Skyrim, Reman defeated the Akaviri army in the White Pass. There was a military threat from the elves from the Summerset Isles, Reman took this circumstance into account and convinced the captive Akaviri, in exchange for their lives, to act as the main striking force of the people. Later, the army of the Nibenay Valley was trained in the knowledge of the Akaviri in the art of war. In addition, the Akaviri established many positions and government structures in the country. One of the most notable was the position of Imperial Advisor - Sovereign. As a rule, the Akaviri became the Rulers. The Imperial legions, who learned the principles of tactics and discipline after the lessons of the Akaviri, subjugated all other regions of Tamriel. Cyrodilic became the language of all official documents, replacing the Altmeri language. The last major conquest of the Second Empire was the capture of a large part of the Black Marsh. In 2837 2E, the Black Marshes were proclaimed an Imperial Province.

In 2840, 1E, a war broke out with Morrowind, in which the Second Empire got stuck for 80 long years. The war ended in 2920, when Morrowind agreed to small territorial concessions, and Emperor Reman III and his heir apparent died at the hands of assassins. The year in which the War of the Four Counts ended marked the beginning of the Era of Decline. The Akaviri Overlord Versidue-Shaie seized power. Akavir began to exert a significant influence on the Empire, foreign Akaviri weapons and armor began to be supplied to it. The reign of the Akaviri Lords lasted four hundred years, and traces of Akaviri culture could be seen in the Imperial City for a very long time.

The Second Empire ceased to exist in 430 2E, when Lord Sevirien-Chorak, along with his heirs, died at the hands of an assassin from the Morag Tong. War leader Attrebius short time took possession of the Imperial Throne and persecuted the Akaviri. They all found refuge in the outback of northwestern Elsweyr, founding the kingdom of Rimmen around 2E 814.

After the heirs of Dir-Kamal managed to take the throne from the successors of Attrebius, the rulers of Cyrodiil were replaced one after another. Orsinium, the Black Marshes and all other provinces broke away from the Empire, and Cyrodiil itself was again divided into East and West. For over 400 years, Cyrodiil was not a force to be reckoned with. Only once during this period did the Colovian Estates attempt to influence another state, intervening in the civil war in Valenwood. Due to military intervention by the Altmer, Colovia was defeated.

During the interregnum, the Empire was drowned in internecine wars. For some time it was ruled by the Reachmen, the Reachmen. Their leader Leovik, not possessing dragon blood, was unable to light the dragon fires in the Temple of the One. Under him, a savage regime of the Reachmen was founded, known as the “House of Emperors.”
In 579 2E, one of the contenders for the throne was Count of Cheydinhall Varen Aquilaros. He gained unprecedented influence by suppressing the remaining dynasties and overthrowing the “House of Emperors.” The path to the Ruby Throne was clear. Among Varen's companions were Abnur Tharn, the great chancellor, his daughter Clivia, the Redguard Sai Sahan and Mannimarco. Mannimarco convinced Varen to perform a special ritual with the Amulet of Kings, assuring that after it not only dragon fires would be lit, but Akatosh himself would bless him with dragon blood and divine power.
At the time of the ritual, Mannimarco's magic perverted the magic of the Amulet of Kings, and a cataclysm, now called the Explosion of Souls, occurred in the Imperial City. Sai Sahan escaped with the Amulet of Kings, Varen was killed, Abnur Tharn joined Mannimarco. Clivia Tharn became Empress of Cyrodiil. Vast areas of the Empire were consumed by Daedric fire, and the first Dark Anchor fell to the ground. Molag Bal's invasion has begun.
Three Alliances - the Daggerfall Covenant, the Aldmeri Dominion and the Ebonheart Pact - turned their gaze to the Empire. Each of them pursued their own reasons for seizing power. In this confrontation, Chorrol suffered greatly, which was constantly attacked by various associations and passed from hand to hand. Because of low level literacy in those days and the chaos that reigned throughout Tamriel, on at the moment It is not clear exactly what happened there, but by the time of the Talos Conquests, Molag Bal's invasion had been stopped and all the alliances had disintegrated. Mannimarco was defeated during a battle with his friend from the past, Vanus Galerion.

Some rulers of Cyrodiil dreamed of reviving the old Empire of Reman. Kuleikhan, the Colovian king of Falkreath, with the help of the dragonborn general Talos, conquered the Nibenay Valley and most of Cyrodiil. Moreover, the untrained and poorly armed army defeated the combined forces of Skyrim and High Rock at the Battle of Sancre Tor. After this victory, the Breton leaders were executed, and the northern troops went over to the side of Cyrodiil. Just before the coronation, in 854 3E, the king and his general were assassinated by the Nightblade, hired in High Rock. After the assassination attempt, Talos and Kuleikhan's throats were cut, but the general survived, although he lost his powerful voice. Talos took the throne of Cyrodiil, taking the Cyrodilic name Tiber Septim.

Already in 864 2E, Tiber Septim controlled all of High Rock, Skyrim and Hammerfell. Tamriel was divided into two camps - the human Empire and the territories under the control of the Ancient Races. The latter included the territories of the Summerset Isles, Valenwood and Morrowind. Morrowind was not part of the unified elven coalition, and the first blow fell on it. Several bases were prepared in Skyrim, and the invasion of Morrowind was carried out in all directions. Morrowind failed to protect its borders with Skyrim and Cyrodiil, and capitulated. Not wanting to give the Dunmer a reason to guerrilla warfare, Tiber Septim agreed to peace. Most of the terms of the peace treaty were known to the general public, and only one of the terms was hidden. Tiber Septim received from the Dunmer the powerful Dwemer golem, Numidium. A secret experimental base was created in Elsweyr - the Halls of the Colossus. The Imperial Battle Mage, Tsurin Arctus, sacrificed his heart to activate the Numidium.

The Golem was not as strong as the Dwemer had once planned, because Mantella's power could not compare with the power of the Heart of Lorkhan. However, Numidium defeated the forces of the Aldmeri Dominion, forcing the elves to submit to the Empire. Ultimately, this led to conflict with Tsurin Arctus, who, in the guise of the Underking, demanded the return of his heart. As a result of the conflict, Numidium disintegrated, and its fragments were scattered throughout Tamriel. Mantella left Nirn, and Arctus rested forever.

The Empire's authorities subjugated all the major kingdoms of Tamriel. Despite the fact that Morrowind and Hammerfell achieved a special status for themselves, the main work of unifying Tamriel was completed. This moment came in 896 2E, and next year was declared the end of the Era of Decadence and the beginning of a new Era, the Third.

After the long reign of Tiber Septim and his death in 3E 38, the throne passes to his grandson Pelagius I. A succession of rulers changes. In 110 3E, Tamriel is attacked by the inhabitants of Pyandonea, led by Orgnum, provoked by Potema. The Imperial Navy, with the help of the Psijic Order, destroys the Pyandoneans.

In 3E 111, the Order of the Knights of the Nine was created, and the search for the relics of the Holy Crusader began.

In 121 3E, the War of the Red Diamond begins. The Order of the Knights of the Nine is splitting, many relics are lost. Potema Septim's allies captured Queen Kintyra II. In the year 123 23 Frostfall, Kintyra II dies, this tribute became known as the “Day of the Broken Diamond.” The allies began to abandon Potema Septim, called the Wolf Queen of Solitude. Potema began to attract the undead to her side, and by the end of the war her army consisted only of the undead, led by vampires. Solitude, which was an outpost of the Wolf Queen, is named Dead City. In 127 3E, Cephorus gained the upper hand in a battle with the army of Potema's son Septim and captured him. During the journey, an angry crowd attacked the prisoner's wagon and killed Uriel III. In 137 3E, Potema Septim dies within the walls of Solitude. Magnus's son, Pelagius III, becomes the ruler of Solitude, where he marries Kataria, a Dunmer woman from the Ra'atim clan.

In 3E 145, Pelagius III, the Mad One, takes the throne of Impria, Kataria becomes queen regent under the mad Emperor, and after Pelagius's death in 153, she becomes the full-fledged queen of Tamriel, the only elf in history to legally occupy the Imperial throne. She gained the respect of the Council of Elders and the Empire prospered throughout her reign. In 200 3E, Katariah dies during the fighting in Black Marsh.

In 3E 249, the Camoran Usurper passes through Colovia and destroys the city of Kvatch standing in its path. Antus Pinder heroically defended the city. When the city was retaken, a statue of the Hero of Kvatch was erected in his honor on the square in front of the chapel.

In 3E 268, Uriel V ascends to the throne and begins wars of conquest, in which small islands near Tamriel were captured. In 285, the first reconnaissance ships were sent to Akavir. In 288, Uriel's fleet landed on Akavir and Ionite was captured without opposition. Strong storms began in the sea, which lasted until 289. Uriel's army was cut off from supply routes. In 290, Tsaeske attacked Ionite, Uriel V, who defended the city, was killed. During his reign, the Council of Elders gained strong influence in the Empire. His son Uriel VI was able to return power to his own hands.

In 3E 368, Uriel VII began to rule the Empire. In 378, the Staff of Chaos was stolen from Mournhold and was obtained by Jagar Tharn, Uriel's battle mage. In 389, he uses the staff's power to take the form of Uriel and trap him in Oblivion. 10 years of the so-called Imperial Simulacrum have begun. There is speculation that Jagar Tharn made a deal with Mehrunes Dagon, who attacked Battlespear to distract people from the chaos and lawlessness reigning in Cyrodiil. In 3E 399, an unknown hero manages to collect all the pieces of the staff of chaos, kill Jagar Tharn and free the emperor from imprisonment in Oblivion. The hero received the title of Defender of Cyrodiil in the Order of the Dragon.

In 405 3E, Uriel Septim VII sends a trusted agent to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of King Lysandus and locate the missing letter sent to the Queen of Daggerfall. In 417 3E, an agent of Uriel found and punished the person responsible for the death of King Lysandus. The hero was able to restore the Numidium, and the second recorded dragon breakthrough occurred.

In 433 3E, Emperor Uriel Septim VII was assassinated in the sewers beneath the imperial city. A dark year began for all of Tamriel, called the Oblivion Crisis. In the course of a series of actions, the Amulet of Kings was lost. The bastard (illegitimate son of Uriel VII) Martin Septim became emperor. To an unknown hero managed to discover the Mythical Dawn organization and close the Great Gate of Oblivion in front of Bruma. Immediately after these events, Mehrunes Dagon himself appeared in the Imperial City, his appearance was accompanied by the opening of many portals to the Dead Lands. Martin Septim sacrifices himself by piercing himself with the Amulet of Kings and becomes Akatosh incarnate. He forever expels the prince of destruction and establishes a strong barrier between Mundus and Oblivion, which protected the mortal world from the global encroachments of the Daedra. The dragon that appeared turned into stone. In the Imperial City, the Temple of the One, the only building remaining from the time of the Alessian Empire and its cult, was destroyed.

The Fourth Era began without the Emperor of Tamriel on the throne. Chancellor Okato and the Blades try to maintain order. The provinces begin to benefit from this state of affairs and, one by one, reduce the influence of the Empire and secede from it.

Around 2 4E Titus Mead takes over Imperial City, after which he defeats Eddar Olin and proclaims himself the new Emperor of Cyrodiil and tries to restore Imperial Power.
The Mages Guild was abolished. Its place was taken by two newly-minted imperial guilds of wizards: the College of Whispers and the Synod.

4E 168 Titus Meade II ascends the throne. The Empire was significantly reduced, retaining only High Rock, Cyrodiil, Skyrim, Hammerfell and, nominally, Morrowind.

4E 171 Imereria was given an ultimatum, which was reinforced by a cart full of heads of blade agents operating in the territory of the Aldmeri Dominion. The ultimatum carried a number of unpleasant points, in particular a ban on the worship of Talos and the cession of the southern Lands of Hammerfell.
Titus Meade II did not accept these conditions, so began Great War. In the same year, Leyawiin fell, and Bravil was cut off from help and besieged.
4E 172 Bravil and Anvil fell. Dominion troops settled near the walls of the Imperial City.
By the end of 173, the city was surrounded on 3 sides; only the path to Bruma remained clear.
In 174, Titus II decides to fight through the encirclement and retreat north, leaving the 8th legion in the rear. The legions of Titus II fought their way through the besiegers and linked up with reinforcements from Skyrim, led by General Jonna. The Eighth Legion was destroyed and the capital was captured.
Titus pretends to be prepared to accept defeat while he gathers troops to take the city.
175 4E the Battle of the Red Ring took place. The Imperial City is captured, the main Thalmor army in Cyrodiil is defeated. General Naafingar is suspended from the White-Gold Tower.
Despite the success, half of the empire's legions were destroyed. Titus Meade II signs the White Gold Concordat. As a result, Hammerfell leaves the auspices of the Empire. The Redgars consider this a treacherous move.

In 201 4E, the Stormcloak uprising began in Skyrim. The Empire sends General Tullius and several legions to resolve this issue. But the general called upon to solve “Special tasks”, in his own words, does not have enough strength. The main army of Cyrodiil stands on the border with the Dominion.

In the same year, the Dark Brotherhood kills the Emperor's cousin Vittoria Vici. Following this, the Emperor personally sails to Skyrim to sort out the situation. As a result, the new Listener of the Dark Brotherhood personally kills him on his own ship. The order for the murder belonged to one of the members of the Council of Elders. People whisper about the coming of "dark times" for the empire.
